I've been tossing the idea around for six months - I'm still a bit nervous that I won't have the time to keep it up to date, but WordPress has all kinds of potential for ministry usage.

You may very well be right. I have yet to have time to add anything to it. But I also think there are plenty of niche galleries out there. I don't think I'd try to compete if it were more broad.
